Scootles by Rose O’Neill Here is a cheerful little fellow. His name is James, although he is often called Jimsie or Scootles. He’s a fun boy. This is a background image of Jessie. Alfred wears few clothes in warm weather. Alfred Daniel seems to know how to ride his mini as well as any young child. He raises his feet to work and also guides him with one hand as he does with both hands. Although Alfred Daniel wears very little clothing in warm weather, he does wear a knitted jumpsuit and winter boots. It’s a red suit. There is a beanie, jacket and leggings. His overshoes are black.

Gregory sitting with his old toys. Its ABC blocks are the smallest size made. This is another picture of Gregory. In this short he looks much better than the other. The suit is made of pink. The collar and cuffs are white. All embroidery and paillette work has been done by hand.

This fuzzy-haired little fellow is Sergey, a tiny New Yorker. Despite his foreign name, Sergey is American. His mother’s parents came to this country from Russia years ago. So it happened that he was given a Russian name. Previous slide or next slide

Rolfe is a well-behaved baby doll. Norway is Rolf’s native country. He came to this country when he was less than a year old. Rolf is a big boy for his age. He was wearing two-size clothes when he was just over a year old. The outfit he was wearing when the photo was taken was delivered to him in Norway. It is made of shorts in red and white. Rolf makes friends easily. Everyone is drawn to him because he looks just like a well-behaved baby.

Alfred Daniel rides a small car. Here is Alfred Daniel, a doll of a different kind. He’s a wonderful baby, because he’s never been heard or seen crying. Smiling most of the time. Sometimes he makes his lips in a round O, as if he’s going to try to whistle. Every now and then he cries, but never cries. Alfred Daniel looks happiest when he’s riding in his go-kart.

Gretchen is a crybaby doll. She is also Otto’s cousin. At first glance, this looks like a picture of Otto taken when he was crying. But it is not. It’s a shot of Otto’s cousin Gretchen. She is younger than Otto. As one might guess from her name, Gretchen is of German descent. She has darker blue eyes than Otto’s. His hair is brown. Irish Gretchen crochet hood made of ecru silk yarn.
