A very large drawing entitled: “The History of the Rise and Fall”.
Japanese artist Ikeda Manabu spends years creating one of his drawings. He is said to have been working on one drawing exclusively, at the time.
Dimensions are as follows: 2 x 2 m (6.5 x 6.5 ft).
It would be impossible to take in all of the great detail, so several shots were created to show just how clear they would be when enlarged.
This is one of those pieces of art that really has to be seen in person, to appreciate in all its splendor. This is the second best thing though.
These illustrations take form using: pen, acrylic ink on paper, mounted on board.
As I understand it, Ikeda does not create a diagram before it starts. Instead, it divides the space into sections, to include all the different aspects it will present. He says it allows inspiration and creativity to blend naturally in real time, as the drawing progresses.
