Make a doll size ice chest for picnics, camping and sporting events!

A cooler, portable ice box, icebox, cooler box, cooler box (in New Zealand), or esky (Australia) is an insulated box used to keep food or drink cold. I found an empty heavy duty plastic box that used to turn nails into an ice chest for dolls.

Ice cubes are commonly placed in it to help the contents inside stay cool. Ice packs are sometimes used, because they either have melt water inside, or they contain a sealed gelatinous substance that stays cold longer than regular ice (it absorbs heat during the phase change). I decided to fill the doll version with plastic pellets; This looks like ice! Plastic beads will also be in disguise if you want to use them.
Coolers are often taken on picnics and on vacation or vacation. When the summer is hot, they can also be used just to get cold groceries from the store, such as preventing ice cream from melting in a hot car. Our 18 inch dolls will use their version on picnics and also to carry food items to the beach.

Even without adding ice, this can be beneficial, especially if the trip home is long. Some coolers have cup holders built into the lid, so I cut two holes in the lid for the same purpose.

Support list:

  • Recycle a plastic nail container
  • white school glue
  • masking tape
  • Acrylic paints: white and blue
  • mod podge
  • Clear acrylic beads or doll pompoms (for pretend ice)

See the pictures to show how I made the icebox:

Ice chests are usually made of inner and outer plastic shells, with rigid foam in between. They come in sizes ranging from small personal to large family sizes with wheels. Our doll version includes rope handles instead of wheels, so dolls will need to carry their own picnic supplies.
