This little brother and sister dress up like school kids who live in Baden-Baden, Germany. There boys wear short dark trousers, white stockings, jackets, bowler hats and long coats with two rows of buttons in the front. All the little girls and many of the baby girl dolls wear weird high hoodies with ribbon straps hanging across their backs. Since these dolls arrived in America, many homes have been opened for them. Dora Petzold is the name of this doll. Germany is her motherland. There can be no mistaking it, she has her name and the name of her country tattooed on her skin just like a sailor. Dora is such a large and lifelike doll that she looks more like a little girl sitting in the center of her doll collection than she looks like a doll. Hitty is named after the story book doll, Hitty, that Rachel Field wrote about, as many feel the dolls are similar to each other. The resemblance must be slight, but Hetty was small for her age and this doll is large. She can look at the table when she is standing on the floor. Hetty came to Wisconsin on Candlelit Days. Prim Little Mary Lee began life in an old Southern mansion in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia. After living there for the better part of her younger days, she is brought up North by her family. Part of the way Mary Lee came by bus, part on a flat river boat and the rest on a covered road Since her arrival, Mary Lee has not returned home even for a short visit.
